Synthetic products have a similar effect on animals as they do on humans. They can negatively affect the health of the skin. They are also absorbed by the body into the bloodstream.

Fleas – how to get rid of them?

1. Baths with the addition of apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar for fleas

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (30 ml)
  • 4 cups of water (1 liter)

  • Sponge
  • Specialist comb for animals

Preparation and application

  • Heat the water: you know your pet best yourself, so you know what temperature will be right.
  • Pour the vinegar into the water.
  • Dip the sponge in the preparation and spread it over the fur.
  • Don’t forget about particularly exposed areas, such as behind the ears or on the nape of the neck.
  • Let the fur dry on its own.
  • To complete the procedure, brush the fur so that any fleas in it remain on the comb’s teeth.

2. Fleas – fight them with lemon water

The smell of lemons repels fleas. As in the previous case, they also have a disinfecting effect.

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon
  • 4 cups of water (1 liter)

Tools

  • Animal comb

Preparation and use

  • Heat the water and slice the lemon.
  • When the water boils, add the lemon slices.
  • Remove the water from the fire and let it rest for 12 hours at room temperature.
  • Apply the agent on the pet’s fur.
  • Brush them to remove any remaining fleas.

3. Wormwood

This is the best option if you don’t want to cause your pet any inconvenience, because you just need to spread fresh wormwood at home. Wormwood smell repels fleas, so you leave your house.

A cup of tea

You can grow wormwood at home or buy infusion sachets with this herb and place them in the places your pet visits the most.

4. Thyme oil

It is a perfect complement to the previous method. There are many hard-to-reach places in the home, so this measure works great. However, you must be aware of the intense smell of this preparation. Once you set it up at home, it will be too late to change your mind.

  • 3 bunches of thyme

Tools

  • Mortar
  • Colander
  • Dropper container

Preparation and application

  • Pluck the thyme stalks from the leaves.
  • Wash and dry the leaves thoroughly.
  • Mash them in a mortar until they release the oil.
  • When you get the oil, use a colander to separate it from the leaves.
  • Pour the oil into a bowl.
  • Apply thyme oil where fleas are most common.
