Stretch marks - 6 tricks to reduce their visibility

Stretch marks are definitely not aesthetic. As we want to enjoy a beautiful appearance, we are certainly not happy when they appear. It turns out, however, that we are not defenseless. There are methods to remove stretch marks or at least reduce their visibility.

Stretch marks appear when damage to the elastic skin fibers occurs. The skin stretches, the fibers break and marks are formed on the skin.

It is very often a side effect of quickly gaining weight or losing weight. Therefore, they necessarily accompany pregnant women and after childbirth. At first, they become red, pinkish or purple, with time they become white – pearly. They are a picture of how the skin stretches.

They are not accompanied by pain or any symptoms, although sometimes there is a slight burning sensation and a feeling of stretching.

Stretch marks and their types

Before we start treating stretch marks and reducing their visibility, it should be mentioned that there are various types of them.

  • There are stretch marks that are caused by the stretching of the skin. It is very often the result of rapid weight gain or loss.
  • Stretch marks formed in adolescence are another type of them. It is a delicate stage in human life when the body experiences rapid changes.
  • In adolescence, hormonal imbalances can also be the cause of this phenomenon. These kinds of changes are practically irreversible.
  • In the third place we have stretch marks resulting from changes in our body: appearing on the breasts, hips, buttocks and abdomen. They are the result of pregnancy. They usually begin to appear around the sixth month of pregnancy, when the skin starts to tighten.
  • They can also appear as a result of treatment with corticoids.
  • But that’s not all. As it turns out, they can also appear as a result of aggressive, intense training that changes the structure of our muscular system and skin. It shows up in athletes, dancers, and other athletes.

What to do when you have stretch marks?

1. Reach for creams

Creams and skin care products rich in vitamin A, such as Mosquet Rose, are ideal for reducing the appearance of stretch marks.

They usually show regenerating properties and using them on a daily basis – whether in the form of a cream or oil – will make stretch marks fade and become less visible.

2. Take vitamins A and B

Both vitamin A and B make the body tissues regenerate. The connective tissue in our body also rebuilds and stimulates the production of collagen – which, in turn, affects the condition of our skin.

To provide your body with these valuable vitamins, reach for products such as:

  • Kiwi
  • Carrot
  • Berries
  • Pears
  • Figs
  • Watermelon

3. Exfoliate the epidermis regularly

Exfoliating the epidermis helps remove skin impurities and dead skin layers, so it can also help fight stretch marks.

Almond acid present in bitter almonds and glycolic acid (obtained, inter alia, from sugar cane) can help us effectively exfoliate dead skin. If you want to reach for deeper treatments, you can opt for dermabrasion using devices with a diamond tip.

4. Laser treatments

Laser treatment can be another alternative that will help you fight unsightly stretch marks. However, due to the costs it generates, few people can afford it.

5. Mesotherapy

It is a non-surgical procedure ideal to deal with stretch marks that have just appeared – i.e. those with a violet tint.

Mesotherapy involves injecting ingredients such as hyaluric acid, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and amino acids into specific areas of the body. It stimulates the processes of cellular regeneration and skin reconstruction.

However, before we decide on mesotherapy, we should talk to our doctor in order to consult whether this treatment will be effective in our case and whether there are any contraindications.

6. Field horsetail

The field horsetail is a plant with many uses. It not only perfectly combats fluid retention in the body. It turns out that it can also help us fight stretch marks – this is due to the rich content of silicon it provides.
